What are Chakras? This can be a daunting question for someone who knows nothing about what the Chakras are and how they work. By the end of this blog series, you will know more than you ever wanted to know about your major and minor energy centers.
Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit. So each Chakra located in your body, is a wheel of spinning energy. Each Chakra spins at a different speed helping to keep your energy balanced and moving in an upward motion. This upward energy movement is called Kundalini. The lower Chakras spin much slower than the upper Chakras and a Chakra will spin differently if it is out of balance.
When the energy is out of balance, it can become fully blocked and stagnant, or partially blocked. If the energy is not moving upward, there is a real chance that the other Chakras will follow suit and become out of balance. When a charka is out of balance, the person may begin to feel sick or at dis-ease (which is where we get the word disease from). With that said, a majority of our physical symptoms are rooted in our spiritual selves. If the spiritual self is not healed, the issue begins to grow and will manifest in our physical body.
An underactive Chakra is fully or partially blocked and an overactive Chakra means the Chakra is too open. An overactive Chakra is taking in too much energy and has a potential of being short circuited. An underactive and an overactive Chakra can cause the other Chakras to be out of balance and should be addressed so that no physical symptoms begin.
Now that we have the basic knowledge of what a charka is, let’s move on to the 7 major Chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. There are also various minor Chakras; however this number varies depending on what source you are referencing. So I will revisit the minor Chakras in a later blog.
Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus make up the lower Chakras and the upper three Chakras are Throat, Third eye and Crown. The lower Chakras and the upper Chakras are connected via the Heart. Each of the major Chakras are aligned along the spine and corresponds with a major organ and various parts of the body. Also, each Chakra is associated with a color, sound and various emotions. The blogs to come will go into a more in-depth look at each Chakra.
When I’m working with Reiki or Crystal Healing, each Chakra has its own feeling. Makes sense right? I notice first if there is a cold or warm spot on or near a Chakra (or anywhere else in the body). Then when I start the healing process, I allow the energy to talk me. The energy tells me many different things! It can tell me specific reasons why it is blocked, it may tell me a general overview of the issue or it may tell me nothing except that it is blocked. I also can get a glimpse into other areas of a person’s life which gives me an added bonus of being able to help the client. With this insight I am able to give you information about the specific problem(s) and how you should go about balancing the energy.
Sometimes, deep in your gut you know why things are happening but you choose not to acknowledge it. Not dealing with your emotions and burying them deep inside your body can create what we call shadows. I will cover shadows in another blog but hearing the issues that you have chosen to ignore can be hard to handle. Ultimately, dealing with emotions that are causing your imbalance in energy will make you feel like a new person.
With all things that make you feel like a new person, it is something that requires dedication. With the help of spiritual coach and dedication a spiritual balance can be achieved. The next blog will cover all things related to the Root Chakra.
