In 2008, ABC published a video about Reiki's growing popularity. This video covers what Reiki is, how it is used and one boy's growth with Reiki. Reiki can be used for many different types of diseases, conditions and disorders and should be combined with traditional medical treatment.

My week via tarot
Looks like I'm going to have a very interesting week!
Sunday: Destiny
Monday: Rejoice in Celebration
Tuesday: Truth
Wednesday: Awareness
Thursday: Memories in Love
Friday: Firm Foundation
Saturday: Patience and Planning
Sunday was all about my destiny and relates to the wheel of fortune. This card comes as a reminder that destiny is constantly changing but I choose the end results. I choose how I'm going to handle or not handle a situation and where it will lead me in the future.
Monday is about rejoicing in celebration. Currently, it is Monday morning and so far so good. I work in an office building and my cubicle was just moved so now I have a window and a view of beautiful trees. So the day is off on a good start!
It looks like from Tuesday to Saturday is going to revolve around my sick mother and the things that I need to overcome and remember.
Tuesday is going to be centered on truth and judgment. I have been having issues with speaking my mind in regards to how my mother is handling her sickness. I think Tuesday may be the breakthrough I have been waiting for.
Wednesday is centered on awareness and is associated with the Magician. On this day I will look into myself for all the tools to help me make it through this difficult time.
Thursday is all about my emotions and looking in the past. This is a twofold card for me. Since, my mother has been sick we are constantly talking about the good times we use to have together. Additionally, my one year wedding anniversary is on Thursday!!! I'm really excited about this milestone for us, as we have been together for 10 years but just recently got married. So I can't wait to look back and laugh at all the stupid stuff we use to do together when we were young. So YAY for one year anniversaries!!!
Friday is centered on the physical and the firm foundation that has been set in place. This comes as a reminder to remember where I have come from and where it has gotten me.
The firm foundation leads into Saturday being centered around patience and planning. Basically, you reap what you sow! I have planted a firm foundation and now is the time that I need to be patient and continues planning. During this time I should take into consideration all aspects of my future to ensure the firm foundation continues.

Charka, what's that?
What are Chakras? This can be a daunting question for someone who knows nothing about what the Chakras are and how they work. By the end of this blog series, you will know more than you ever wanted to know about your major and minor energy centers.
Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit. So each Chakra located in your body, is a wheel of spinning energy. Each Chakra spins at a different speed helping to keep your energy balanced and moving in an upward motion. This upward energy movement is called Kundalini. The lower Chakras spin much slower than the upper Chakras and a Chakra will spin differently if it is out of balance.
When the energy is out of balance, it can become fully blocked and stagnant, or partially blocked. If the energy is not moving upward, there is a real chance that the other Chakras will follow suit and become out of balance. When a charka is out of balance, the person may begin to feel sick or at dis-ease (which is where we get the word disease from). With that said, a majority of our physical symptoms are rooted in our spiritual selves. If the spiritual self is not healed, the issue begins to grow and will manifest in our physical body.
An underactive Chakra is fully or partially blocked and an overactive Chakra means the Chakra is too open. An overactive Chakra is taking in too much energy and has a potential of being short circuited. An underactive and an overactive Chakra can cause the other Chakras to be out of balance and should be addressed so that no physical symptoms begin.
Now that we have the basic knowledge of what a charka is, let’s move on to the 7 major Chakras: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown. There are also various minor Chakras; however this number varies depending on what source you are referencing. So I will revisit the minor Chakras in a later blog.
Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus make up the lower Chakras and the upper three Chakras are Throat, Third eye and Crown. The lower Chakras and the upper Chakras are connected via the Heart. Each of the major Chakras are aligned along the spine and corresponds with a major organ and various parts of the body. Also, each Chakra is associated with a color, sound and various emotions. The blogs to come will go into a more in-depth look at each Chakra.
When I’m working with Reiki or Crystal Healing, each Chakra has its own feeling. Makes sense right? I notice first if there is a cold or warm spot on or near a Chakra (or anywhere else in the body). Then when I start the healing process, I allow the energy to talk me. The energy tells me many different things! It can tell me specific reasons why it is blocked, it may tell me a general overview of the issue or it may tell me nothing except that it is blocked. I also can get a glimpse into other areas of a person’s life which gives me an added bonus of being able to help the client. With this insight I am able to give you information about the specific problem(s) and how you should go about balancing the energy.
Sometimes, deep in your gut you know why things are happening but you choose not to acknowledge it. Not dealing with your emotions and burying them deep inside your body can create what we call shadows. I will cover shadows in another blog but hearing the issues that you have chosen to ignore can be hard to handle. Ultimately, dealing with emotions that are causing your imbalance in energy will make you feel like a new person.
With all things that make you feel like a new person, it is something that requires dedication. With the help of spiritual coach and dedication a spiritual balance can be achieved. The next blog will cover all things related to the Root Chakra.

Reiki and Breast Cancer
I just read this article about Doctors using Reiki to help patients cope with Breast Cancer. As many of you know, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and has recently developed cancer again. Having seen my mother struggle through chemotherapy treatments then surgery, I know the hardships that a person with Breast Cancer and their family must go through. And I'm profoundly glad that Doctors are realizing that Eastern and Western Medicine should be combined to treat diseases.
As a Reiki Master, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude that I have this ability to share with others during their time of physical and mental pain. And as my business grows and I am able to helps others, I hope society continues to grow with me. In the future, hopefully society can come to an understanding that alternative/holistic medicine has worked for thousands of years and should be used in conjunction with modern medicine as a benefit to the patient.
Currently there are only a few studies that are trying to prove the benefits of combing Eastern and Western medicine. I believe this will change with the up coming energy shift we will be experiencing over the next year. We must as a society, not shy away from the things of the past but embrace them as a part of who we are as a culture.

Rose Quartz Meditation
As many of you know, there are many painful things going on in my life right now. On Wednesday, I decided I wasn't going to meditate but instead do a session of Yoga. When I went upstairs to get ready, I had an overwhelming feeling to meditate. I always meditate with a crystal or gemstone, but to my surprise it was the Rose Quartz that called my name. Normally, I only use Rose Quartz to help me get rid of negative emotions. And yesterday I wasn't feeling overly negative, so I was quite puzzled until I picked up the crystal.
When I touched the Rose Quartz, I got an instant feeling of peaceful unconditional love. Apparently, yesterday I need unconditional love to rule my life. And it did in so many ways! I meditated for about 20 minutes, which is relatively short for me. But in those 20 minutes, everything made sense. I learned that I need to have unconditional love for myself first. Without that love, I would be in no state to help the ones close to me during these difficult times. I also realized that I accept this situation as it is a part of life and that I hold no fear just love. And I may not agree with how some of my family members are handling the situation, I now know that is how they must process their grief.
Yesterday's meditation was a beautiful experience and I have a new found love for Rose Quartz. Anything that can change my opinion in 20 minutes, must be amazing! I know this is a common experience for many people using Rose Quartz. The feeling of unconditional love is one of the main qualities. But for me up until yesterday it only helped me rid my body of negativity, not show me a way to gain unconditional love. So for me this was a great milestone, especially during these times of sadness.
As a prize, I will be giving away a small Rose Quartz to the first person to comment on this blog. Tell me a time when you have experienced unconditional love and I will give you this beautiful crystal (contest closed). Remember to follow me on my blog and Facebook for these wonderful opportunities to gain insight on the mind, body and soul and to win prizes.

Crystal Haul
Today, I was pleasantly surprised because I received my shipment from crystal-cure.com! I've ordered from this website before and thought the quality of the crystals and gemstones was pretty descent. I ordered a 2-3inch Black Tibetan double terminated quartz, three natural crystal quartz points from Tibet and some Galena. The order was shipped and arrived at my house in a couple of days, which was great. And to top it all off, this Black Tibetan Quartz is so amazing I can't believe it. I mean it is from Tibet and the monks there pray around the clock; so you know these stones are going to be super charged. Needless to say, I'm not disappointed at all!
Stay tuned for my up and coming blog series about the major and minor Chakras. This blog series will start with an overview of what are Chakras, and then look at each Chakra individually. During each blog, I will give an insightful tip on how to keep the Chakra balanced and how I view the Chakra when I'm working with energy.
